Alexander McQueen - "The Hooligan within English Fashion"

Not new to controversy, Alexander McQueen has been making waves within the fashion world for some years now. From his fledgling days as a school boy apprentice for Saville Row tailors, the likes of Anderson and Sheppard, Alexander McQueen was always destined to be involved with incredible clothes.

A Central St Martins graduate, Alexander McQueen followed so many of his fellow classmates into the heady and glamorous world of fashion design. His degree shows were always a talking point with exciting, controversial, definitive designs and it wasn’t long before McQueen received his first appointment as head designer at Givenchy. The fashion world was shocked to have a ‘new boy’ succeed John Galliano to the post - but underestimated he was not to be.

As fiery a personality as he is a designer, Alexander McQueen ensures that his catwalks and his dissenters are met with the same vigour.

Alexander McQueen - Spring, Style and Seduction

This S/S 08 season saw Alexander McQueen dressing his models in sharp, exquisite tailoring - whether it was a stunning bias-cut charcoal silk shift dress or a futuristic angular cat-suit his designs capture the imagination almost effortlessly. His models wore white, greys and corals with fading fabrics being imperative to his collection. Waists were emphasised, with McQueen exaggerating the beauty of his collection with eye catching red sashes.
