Like it’s legions of fashion fans, Evisu is a fairly young brand, only formally established in Osaka, Japan in 1991. Owner and founder of Evisu, Hidehiko Yamane, inspired by his love of vintage clothing, set about replicating the original production procedure of vintage jeans – a process that hadn’t been seen for over 40 years. With such equipment in place, able to produce only 14 pairs of jeans per day, Evisu was born.
Initially merely a labour of love, with painstaking attention to detail, Evisu’s need to produce beautiful authentic vintage jeans, instantly recognisable with the Evisu ‘seagull’ insignia, helped propel the brand into the arms of the fashion conscious Japanese set.
Evisu as a brand, almost single-handedly helped spur a revival of vintage denim on a global scale and by 1999 Evisu had a separate tailoring range, a woman’s range (Evisu Donna in 1999) and even a golfing and fishing collection.
At koodos we have some stunning savings on Evisu designer fashion, from the original designer denim to tee-shirts and tops. With savings of up to 60% it seems appropriate that ‘Evisu’ is the Japanese Buddhist God of money.
