Chapter I
On a server somewhere sits something precious.
On a server somewhere sits something precious.
The most complete portrait of you ever painted… but you cannot see it, correct it, or use it as you’d like.
In fact, the only places you might encounter it are elsewhere. The ads you see online, the videos you scroll past in a feed or the conversations with your agent
And this was just the beginning.
Now, dozens of companies vie to create their own portrait of you. But this time, it isn’t just your attention being modeled. It’s your whole life.
An immensely powerful tool for manipulation, in the wrong hands. Or… the most powerful new primitive for improving personal agency.
We believe that all of us should be able to use intelligence as we see fit, but without giving up ourselves and our control along the way.
So at Koodos Labs, this is what we’re building.
A way to create and control this portrait of yourself for the first time, so you can enjoy the fruits of this incredible technology, on your terms.
Chapter II
The world’s richest personal context model
Who are you?
Today’s best AIs claim to know… but that’s not quite true.
According to the leading PersonaMem benchmark from Meta and UPenn, frontier AI’s responses aligned with a user’s preferences and circumstances only about half the time.
We believe this ceiling isn’t a model problem, but one of fragmentation. A hundred different services, that know only what they want to know about you.
Further, their systems learn what you love, what you avoid, what you decide, and what you will pay for, but none of that learning accrues back to you.
What's missing is a personal context model: a model whose whole job is knowing you. Specifically designed to natively manage its own context, creating memory and user understanding that transfers across models.
To build the world's richest one and give you ownership over it, you need the full picture first. Then a way to understand it, and make it legible to the tools you use.
Chapter III
We need...
- A fun, safe way to gather everything that makes you you.
- A way to turn millions of data points into a dynamic interface to you.
- A research-backed system for evaluating user understanding and continually learning.
- And a protocol for sharing just what you want with the services you use.
We’ve spent the last few years building it all, but even so, the best models require constant reinforcement to improve.
For a personal system, this has to come from the person that knows you best: you.
Chapter IV
A Shelf of you
We built Shelf to power this vision of the future, from end to end. On the surface, it’s a fun app to passively aggregate all of your activity.
From AI memory to YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, and beyond, Shelf becomes a museum of you that you didn’t even have to make.
Every tap, rating, and addition serves as active reinforcement. A way to get to the ground truth of who you are, not just what you ask for.
Then, Shelf compresses all of that activity into a living understanding of you, one it keeps current and checks against what you actually do, allowing agents to query you like a source, not skim you like a document.
We recently opened Shelf so anyone can build on that understanding. Today, a small group of creators have that power. All of them had never built an app before and are not avid AI users.
Describe an app in a sentence, and it exists: personal to every person who opens it. This is the era of apps as content. Some are silly and gone in a week. Others you come back to every day.
But every use makes Shelf more you, for you. A flywheel for knowing you better.
A home for your digital self, with a world of personal apps built around it. And beyond it, an internet that knows you and does things for you, on your terms.
Chapter V
Our vision for the future
In the last era, online platforms competed for our share of time. In the next, we believe they’ll compete for share of identity.
Instead of attention, your personal context becomes the scarcest resource. But in a multi-agent future, no one AI will own a complete picture of you.
This is why creating a private, personal context model you control is so important… So any agent you choose can act on who you really are, on your terms.
We are proud to be on the Board of organizations like Consumers International and founding members of the Data Transfer Initiative, investing in building consumer-centric policies for personal intelligence.
All of this isn’t just about convenience, or doing right by users. It’s what we believe is the foundation of a whole new computing paradigm.
An environment where personalization is no longer a luxury exclusive to the few… Where users share only what’s needed, instead of putting everything up for auction. Where new business models can emerge, which are more aligned with our needs. Where developers build powerful new utilities and experiences made truly for you.
This is a a future where every experience you try already knows how to help.
Almost like a sixth sense.
